The Invested Investor - becoming, and working with, an angel or angels who add value to the start-up journey with help such as mentoring, governance, connecting, future funding and even friendship.
Since mid 2017, we have been on a mission to improve the journeys of start-ups by educating angels and entrepreneurs to make fewer mistakes, work better together and produce more successful exits. We want to make angels more comfortable to invest their time, emotion and expertise into start-ups, and help entrepreneurs with how they should start to talk to investors and then build an honest relationship with them.
Peter's drive behind this is to generate a greater number of successful businesses for the benefit of the entrepreneurs, the angels and the whole ecosystem.
The project is a not-for-profit social venture, hopefully covering its costs over time. The over-arching drive is to educate and to encourage improved transparency and trust.
It draws on Peter's 50K+ hours of being an entrepreneur and 15K+ hours of angel investing, plus help from many others. Peter's younger son, Alan (LinkedIn) is running the company (and managing Peter!).
Both the online and offline content are based on real war stories of success and failure from Peter and from many other angels and entrepreneurs, interspersed with lessons on numerous themes such as pitching, hiring & firing, choosing entrepreneurs & investors and handling both the dreamed-for positive exits and the all-too-common failures.
The first book, the new rules for start-ups, scale-ups and angel investing, is available here.
